Bakers Bargain Meal of the Week 7/2

For this week, you have a couple of options-

Meal #1-

Sloppy Josephines- Manwich is .70 this week with the Mega sale. Buns are $1.38. 1lb. of ground turkey is $1.59. If you want to add cheese, Kraft singles are $1.47 this week- add .40= $4.07
cantaloupe slices- $1.67, use half= .84
corn on the cob 4/$1= $1

Tip for Sloppy Joes/Josephines- I find these to be a great food to use for "stealth" vegetable supply to my kids. Start with a small amount, like 1/4 cup of cooked, mashed carrots, or sweet potato, stirred in to the entire dish. I've been able to build that amount up and they don't even notice. The cheese melted over the top acts as good camouflage as well. :)

Total for this meal is $5.91

Meal #2-

Grilled BBQ Chicken Leg Quarters- .55/lb for a 10lb. bag.- use 2-3lbs.= $1.65
Kraft BBQ sauce= .69 w/ the Mega sale (there are coupons that would make this free)
Corn on the cob= 4/$1
tomato slices @ $1.49/lb. use 1/2 lb.= .75
fresh sliced strawberries= $1.88

Total for this meal is $5.97 or less

Bakers Bargain Meal of the week

I have to admit I haven't been thrilled with Bakers the past few weeks. The meat is higher there, and so is produce. If you coupon you can grab some decent prices on processed stuff, but I prefer to get more whole foods and that has been slim pickin's. That being said, here's a healthy, easy meal that comes in at under $5.00 without fruit, and just over with.

Your shopping list:

2lbs Kroger Chicken Thighs @ .95/lb= $1.90
1 Green Giant Box Niblets Corn in Butter Sauce- $1.00
1 10lb. bag of Kroger Russet Potatoes= $2.99 (using about 3lbs. potatoes= .90)
1 16oz. Roberts Light Sour Cream= $1.00

Your menu plan-

Crumb-Coated Chicken
Corn
Baked Potatoes with Sour Cream

Total for Meal is $3.80

Add 1 pound of red seedless grapes @ $1.77/lb for a total of $5.55 !

Baker's Bargain Meal of the Week 4/29

This has been a grueling week for work. 12+ hours everyday, 4am to 9pm yesterday alone! I am tired, run down, and gulping vitamins like a crazy person.

As I look through ads, the last thing that sounds appealing is lots of work in the kitchen. While we try to keep more processed foods to minimum in our house, we do use them, especially in time crunches like this if I hadn't thought ahead in preparation.

The following meal ideas are just that---combinations of quick easy foods...not really RECIPES....but sometimes ya just gotta eat. LOL

Breakfast:
8 scrambled eggs .99/doz= .64
biscuits .37 per can
Farmland Sausage Links= $1.40 (if you BOGO)
Yoplait Yogurt (out of the 8 count pack at $3.88 each)= $1.94
$4.35

Lunch:
Kroger Peanut Butter- .98
Sarah Lee Wheat Bread- $1.18
Roberts Cottage Cheese $1.99
Pringles- $1.50 (there is a MQ for $1/2 available that would make these $1 each)
$5.65 (for ALL of it!)

Dinner:
Deli Rotisserie Chicken- $4.99 (easy for tonight, plus you have leftovers for another meal or reicpe--and use this to make stock!)
Kroger Frozen Veggies- $1.18
3lb. Deli Potato Salad- $3.99
$10.16 for this convenience meal that will produce lots of leftovers and free chicken stock

Bakers Bargain Meal of the Week

There are some strong seafood deals this week at Bakers- $1.99/lb for Catfish nuggets, buy one get one free for shrimp, etc. I really don't know what to do with catfish, so you're on your own with that one :) I decided, after picking up one for myself, to focus this week's meal around pork loin at $1.77/lb. My pork loin was around $5 for 3lbs. I will be dividing that up and using it for a few different meals. Please note that while this recipe says it serves 6, it calls for 3lbs. of meat---a tad much--I am basing pricing on using 2lbs.- you could probably cut it back even more for a family of 4. If you have some cheese at home, a little sprinkling on top would go far!

Your shopping list:
2lbs. of pork loin $3.54
1 can of Kroger corn .48
1 can of Kroger diced tomatoes .48

The recipe-
Pork Tamale Pie

If you're in the mood for a sweet treat after, and you get 10 qualifying items in the Mega Event, you get $5 off. That makes the Haagen Dazs Cups .49!

Bakers Bargain Meal of the Week 3/4

I'm Protestant, not Catholic, so I've never observed the Lenten Friday tradition---although I do love a good BYOB Fish Fry as much as anyone! :) I do, however, love Lent for the fish specials. It's a good time to stock up on seafood for the freezer and pantry. Whether you eat this on Friday or Tuesday, it's an easy, affordable meal I hope you enjoy!

Salmon Patties
Broccoli with 3-Cheese Sauce
grapes

1 can of Chicken of the Sea Pink Salmon- $2.49
1 bag Green Giant Big Sauce Broccoli 3-cheese- $2.00
1lb. grapes $.88
